About the Study

Diabetes affects millions of people in the United States, with a prevalence that is twice as high in the Latino population compared to non-Hispanic whites.

Reduced brain function (cognitive decline) affects 1 in 9 adults in the U.S, and Latinos are at higher risk for Alzheimer’s disease.

Rates of cognitive decline are higher in people with diabetes compared to those without diabetes, and the link between cognitive decline and diabetes is not well understood.

Despite Latinos being at a higher risk for diabetes and Alzheimer's disease, they are under-represented in studies that research these diseases. At the University of Southern California, we want that to change.
